Item: Intake air temperature sensor: open or short circuit detected.
Fail-Safe System: Able to Start Engine | Able to Drive Vehicle
Indicated: Displays the air temperature.
Procedure: Compare the actually measured intake air temperature with the indicated value.

Connection of Intake Air Temperature sensor coupler.
Check the locking condition of the coupler. Disconnect the coupler and check the pins (bent or broken terminals and locking condition of the pins). |
Improperly connected
Connect the coupler securely or replace the wire harness. |
Turn the main switch to "ON".
If, the Fault Code No. is NOT displayed, then Service is Complete. If however, the Fault Code No. is displayed, then Go To Item 2 below. |

Connection of ECU coupler.
Check the locking condition of the coupler. Disconnect the coupler and check the pins (bent or broken terminals and locking condition of the pins). |
Improperly connected
Connect the coupler securely or replace the wire harness. |
Turn the main switch to "ON".
If, the Fault Code No. is NOT displayed, then Service is Complete. If however, the Fault Code No. is displayed, then Go To Item 3 below. |

Connection of sub-wire harness coupler.
Check the locking condition of the coupler. Disconnect the coupler and check the pins (bent or broken terminals and locking condition of the pins). |
Improperly connected
Connect the coupler securely or replace the wire harness. |
Turn the main switch to "ON".
If, the Fault Code No. is NOT displayed, then Service is Complete. If however, the Fault Code No. is displayed, then Go To Item 4 below. |

Wire harness continuity.
|
Open or short circuit.
Replace the wire harness. Between intake air temperature sensor coupler and ECU coupler. (Brown/White-Brown/White) Between intake air temperature sensor coupler and joint coupler. (Black/Blue-Black/Blue) Between joint coupler and ECU coupler, (Black/Blue-Black/Blue) |
Turn the main switch to "ON".
If, the Fault Code No. is NOT displayed, then Service is Complete. If however, the Fault Code No. is displayed, then Go To Item 5 below. |

Installed condition of Intake
Air Temperature sensor. Check for looseness or pinching. |
Improperly installed sensor.
Reinstall or replace the sensor. |
Turn the main switch to "ON".
If, the Fault Code No. is NOT displayed, then Service is Complete. If however, the Fault Code No. is displayed, then Go To Item 6 below. |

Defective Intake Air Temperature sensor.
|
Execute the diagnostic
mode. (Code No. 05). When engine is cold: Displayed temperature is close to the ambient temperature. The displayed temperature is not close to the ambient temperature. Check the intake air temperature sensor. Replace if defective. |
Turn the main switch to "ON".
If, the Fault Code No. is NOT displayed, then Service is Complete. If however, the Fault Code No. is displayed, then Go To Item 7 below. |
